11/25/2023 0 Comments Bmw i7 2023![]() The digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen subtly act as a freestanding element, appearing to hover ever-so-slightly away from the main dashboard shape. The i7’s interior is almost architectural in essence, with random shapes, materials, and surfaces that interact in ways that are offbeat, but well-considered. Inside, however, is a direct 1-for-1 import of the standard 7-series. And I’m not sure if the i7 knows what it is, either. ![]() I ask, is that a good thing? After a few hours with both the 7-series and i7, I can confidently say, well, it’s a thing. Now, the i7 is here, with seemingly less visual differentiation between it and the regular 7-series. Then, BMW introduced i4 in 2021, clearly a slightly restyled 4-series gran coupe, with electric motors and batteries. But those models weren’t commercially all that successful, even leading to former BMW CEO Harald Krueger stepping down after those models flopped. First, the brand introduced bespoke ground-up electrified designs that were a whole new chapter design-wise, with the i3 and i8. Yet, it seems like BMW’s walking away from the idea. We’ve seen it with the Mercedes-Benz EQS which looks nothing like the S-Class it will eventually usurp when the brand makes the shift to full electric. Manufacturers may introduce a similarly-sized, but entirely new EV model that’s meant to replace the gas equivalent, which often shares little design ethos with the car it runs parallel with. They all undergo intensive testing in Arjeplog under extreme climate conditions.The EV car revolution has a new trend. But just how much more range the i7 may squeeze out of the iX drivetrain is an open question, even though over 330 miles in the EPA cycle in the base version certainly seems feasible. When it comes to range the i7 is certainly expect to land north of the 300-mile mark in base form, given the advertised range of the iX. ![]() The i7 is expected to be offered in three trim levels, with the top M60 performance version being the most performance oriented, though not the longest-ranged. A third, sportier M60 version is likely to offer at least 600 hp when it arrives a little later. The eDrive50 model, meanwhile, is expected to serve up 516 hp and 564 lb-ft of torque. We expect the i7 to be offered in three trim levels, following the hierarchy of the iX SUV: i7 eDrive40, i7 eDrive50 and i7 M60, with the base model offering 322 hp and 420 lb-ft torque. This means the i7 is like to feature a 105.2-kWh battery coupled with a dual-motor layout. The sedan is considered likely to use the drivetrain of the iX electric sport utility, the first deliveries of which are expected to start in a matter of days. "Moreover, they make use of test surfaces on frozen lakes with their low road friction coefficient in order to achieve particularly fine tuning of suspension control systems." During test drives around the snow-covered roads around Arjeplog, they are able to test and optimize all functions under extremely challenging conditions in order to achieve an absolutely harmonious and BMW-typical driving experience," the automaker said.
